The Trash Can That Outsmarted Our Food-Loving Dachshund

Our miniature dachshund, Schatzi, may be small—just 15 pounds and about six inches tall—but she has the appetite (and determination) of a dog ten times her size. She's always been what we lovingly call a "food hound," and that includes anything that might smell edible… like the trash.

For years, we tried everything to keep her out of it. We moved the trash can, weighed the lid down, even tried deterrent sprays. Nothing worked. Schatzi was always one step ahead—until we discovered the holy grail: a locking-top trash can.
